AIM
The seats integrate into a regenerated street scene along George Street in Pontypool town centre. They are playful objects that serve as incidental seating, distinctive markers and meeting points.
CONCEPT
These sculptural seats have been inspired by Pontypool’s famous Japanned tinware.
The five sculptural seating units have their own unique screen-printed surface pattern developed through community workshops by pattern designer Annabel Perrin. http://annabelperrin.com
The heavy steel hemispheres are stove enamelled in vibrant colours, achieving a very robust surface requiring minimal maintenance, a thick stainless steel rim protects the edges of the enamel.
